# Chapter Ten: The Root Of All Evil

***Switzerland***

***2022***

The world never really knew who the nuns were, facially. But their impact couldn’t be ignored.

The Davos World Economic Forum brought together business leaders, politicians, and journalist once every year to discuss global economic and social challenges. Usually held in January in the ski town of Davis, Switzerland.

The world economic forum is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1971.

If there was one place global economic change and effectiveness could spawn from; it was the Davos World Economic Forum.

The Corona pandemic of 2020 limited the 51st meeting of 2021 to a virtual event.

But 2022 would be different. It would be direct, and more confrontational.

The meeting lasted four hours as each member brought up issues in their region as well as ways to tackle these problems.

Issues raging from defective medical systems, the mafia, global hunger, global warming, terrorism, poverty, and everything in between.

When Nakano Chihiro took the stand as guest speaker, and began to talk. The whole world stood in silence, those who were watching, riveted in place.

“Good evening all.” Nakano started, her eyes staying locked mostly on the area around the Canadian prime minister and the prime minister himself. “My name is Nakano Chihiro. None of you know me because to the world, I don’t even exist. To the world, I’m just another possible casualty. To the world, I’m just another means to an end, not to be taken seriously. Out there are millions to billions more like me who don’t exist to the world. Millions to billions of people who are either victims of casualties or subject to the possibility of casualties. Why? Because the world we live in is so rooted in chaos that we don’t even care about the things that plague anyone as long as we don’t suffer. Reality is being perverted before our eyes and we don’t see it. Terrorism has Africa gripped firmly in its shackles, and it rages on in the Middle East. Mafia Lords Europe instill fines on locals and those who don’t pay get beaten to near death as a show of 'mercy.’ Gang related assaults and wars have plagued every part of the world increasingly since the last century. What have you done to help so far but sit on power seats and turn a blind eye to a broken society. Hunger thrives in Africa. Human trafficking has been at an all high in the last few years unlike any time history.”

Outside, Ashanti took her position on the building opposite the Davos World Economic Forum, with a sniper rifle scanning its surroundings.

On the ground floor dressed as a casual visiting nun was Jamari. She was put on the welcome committee of the Davos forum.

Valda hung around the rear exit, dressed as a harmless casual nun taking a break from all the hassle within the building. Her reverse blade was sheathed in a special compartment attached to the left side of her clerical gown. Only the hilt of the blade was visible to the trained eye, but even that blended well with her jet black gown.

“Status report on the roof.” Jamari said through the concealed earpiece/mic sneakily latched to her ear.

“Front's all clear, boss.” Ahsanti replied.

“Valda, rear?”

*Static…*

*“*Valda, come in.” Jamari whispered casually, but a little bit more forcefully.

“All clear here.” Came Valda’s reply.

“What took you so long?”

“Sorry, some guy tried flirting with me. Jeez, who flirts with a nun? Don’t they have any reverence for God?” She asked, shrugging in slight exasperation.

“Ah, well first of…” Jamari stopped to greet someone, then continued. “You’re not an actual nun. Second of, you are way too attractive to be ignored.”

“She looks like a homeless person, if you ask me.” Ashanti wisecracked.

“Very funny, Ahsanti. Keep this up, and you just might be an old and unloved nun for the rest of your life.” Valda replied casually, still taking in detail of her surrounding.

“Okay, stay frosty. You can both roast yourselves later.”

“What the–“ Valda’s mic went dead.

“Valda, come in?” Jamari whispered with urgency in her voice. “Valda!”

“If we don’t stand up to fight these parasites that plague our world now, our children will grow up in a world where economic corruption of all forms would have become normal.” Nakano blasted on within the main hall. “As we speak, structures are being put in place so your children don’t know the difference between legal and illegal. Structures are being put in place so that your children carry the wrong torches because you failed to fight your battles that would leave them with the right torches to carry on.”

**“**You relentless, bitch.” Ursula said, the minute the blow connected with Valda’s chin.

“Every…time…you…get…warned…to…keep…your German ass…out the way…you…do your own…thing…anyway!!” Each word was succeeded by a punch to all sides of Valda’s face.

Regardless, Valda staggered to her feet, and spat out blood. The blows caused her head to spin, but she had taken a good beaten before to withstand whatever Ursula threw her way.

Ursula lunged at her again, but Valda was quick this time. She wriggled her body to the side, sneakily evading Ursula’s forceful strike at her face.

Then she quickly freed her reverse blade from its hidden compartment, much to Ursula’s surprise, and lunged forward with a deathly strike of her own.

The impact of the reverse blade sent a shockwave through Ursula’s head, causing her to stagger backwards onto the more visible side of the Davos building.

But Ursula had one last con up her sleeves. She pulled out a Glock 47 with a silencer attached to it, trained it directly at Valda, and yelled, “You fucking Abbey spy!”

Then a clean shot rang through the air.

Valda’s eyes widened a fragment of an inch, as if she had inhaled her last breathe.

But it wasn’t hers…it was Ursula.

She staggered a little, looked Valda dead in the eye, and slumped to the ground.

“Valda, come in, you there?” Came Ashanti's voice after taking the shot.

Valda was too stunned to move…

“Valda?”

“You…you shot her.” She finally muttered.

“She’ll live.” Ashanti replied. “Stun bullets, very effective; keeps the vital organs alive.”

Valda sighed in relief.

“Klaus isn’t here, Jamari.” She said. “He knew we were coming.”

“He’s testing us.” Jamari said through the mic. “Weighing our capabilities. He’s sizing us up. Whoever attacked you knew we were going to be here. They know our identity.”

“We need to get the prime minister out of there. Now!” Valda said, darting for the building.

Inside, Nakano had just come to a full climax on all pending issues plaguing the world, as well as potential solutions to these problems.

Some of the leaders were moved by her words, even the Canadian prime minister himself.

He stood up to give his speech, and said. “As chairman of the Davos Economic World Forum, I believe I speak for most of us when I say Miss Chihiro has left us with a warning, not just a brilliant speech. And by the power vested in me as chairman of the board, I ask you one humble request, Miss Chihiro.”

Nakano nodded in acknowledgement.

“A great move like this towards the elimination of economic corruption takes a great deal of financial backing. I humbly ask that you consider taking up the position of financial secretary for the global finance department of the forum. With a mind like yours on our team, we could channel the proper resources into the right areas given your network of people. I for one knew Hans Schneider, and though till his death I never knew what faction of the government he worked for. I knew one thing. Hans Schneider was a visionary.”

“I’d be honored to be on your team as financial secretary, sir.” Nakano bowed her head in show of gratitude. “The Crypto Nuns are here to shape the world for the better. This is our Creed. A torch we're willing to pass on to the next generation.”

Suddenly, the prime minister's security detail walked into the Hall and straight for the prime minister. Nakano locked eyes with Jamari, but understood what was going on.

The meeting was adjourned twenty minutes ahead of schedule, and the prime minister was quickly shadowed out of the hall into his waiting convoy.

Ashanti kept her eyes glued to the area around the front door, and even the top of the surrounding buildings. All was clear, and the day had been saved.

For now…
